This platter was inspired by the swifts that screech over our studio and home.

Swifts are nearly always airborne, and even sleep on the wing. It’s a sweet thought that as we’re tucked up in bed they’re above us, sleeping in the night sky!

These amazing migratory birds arrive from Africa in late April/early May and we’re lucky enough to have them nesting in the eaves of houses on the road we live & work on. We have a great local group @lewesswifts who are looking out for these wonderful birds that have sadly declined in population, adding swift boxes to properties around the town (we have one!).

Hand made by Dom from earthenware terracotta with yellow slip and sgraffito detailing.

Ideally don’t put this treasure in the dishwasher but it can handle a vigorous hand wash!
