Traditionally made from the last grain harvested from the field, corn dollies were hung in the main room of farmhouses and cottages all over Britain, their origins can be traced back to the roman goddess of the harvest Demeter. I’m surprised it’s taken us so long to get round to making work inspired by these icons of Autumn!

A large and lively platter, the ‘corn’ look is created using icing piping bags and nozzles! The textures and twists of the corn dollies themselves are painstakingly hand painted onto slip.

Please don’t put this treasure in the dishwasher.
