The Anancy platter is a nod to one of the most important and well known characters in Caribbean folklore. The amorphous trickster spider, with origins in West African folk tradition, is well-known for triumphing over more powerful opponents, through the use of cunning, creativity and wit.

As young children we had a picture book that featured Anansi, it was one of the few connections to our Jamaican heritage we had growing up in a small, suburban Sussex town. The illustrations were bold with a combination of prismatic colour and eclectic black and white patterns so vibrant they stayed with us into adulthood.

This one of a kind platter is hand formed from off white earthenware and glazed with iron chromate. Food safe but please do not put in the dishwasher!
