Inspired by antique European delftware tobacco jars, which often depicted native people of the Caribbeans and Americas but within contained tobacco picked by African slave labour.

This piece lightly explores our confusing and complicated relationship with both Europes colonial past and also the dirty habit of smoking! Featuring two smoking nude ladies (their resemblance to ourselves is not so coincidental ;) and tobacco flowers along with classic delft elements.

Cast from stoneware with hand sculpted handles. Hand painted and finished with 24k gold lustre.
