Lucine Jug

Lucine Jug
‘Growth rings inscribe
inside each shell
the markers of a former life.
This shell, my skin,
outers a life
still stretched
still lived in.’
This simple jug features a line from the poem ‘Shelter’ from the book ‘Shell‘ by Olive Senior, recommended by a lovely, literary lady from Kingston who came to our workshop at the Jamaica Inn.
The vase opening has been delicately hand sculpted into the shape of a conch shell, and has a beautiful pour…
The small lucine shells following the verse were collected by us from the hotels beach, giving the jug its name, Lucine! It may not be practical to have such delicate shells adorning a vase, but it sure is beautiful, please be gentle when cleaning this piece.
